About – Sarah Oakley
Sarah Oakley Independent Nurse, Health Visitor, Lactation Consultant, Tongue-tie Practitioner and Holistic Sleep Coach.
Sarah has been working at The Self Centre since 2012 and offers help and support with all breastfeeding concerns including sore nipples, low supply, poor weight gain and reflux, as well as more complex issues such as tongue-tie (including division), prematurity and babies with additional needs such as Downs Syndrome.
Private appointments are available at the Self Centre for breastfeeding assessment and support and for tongue-tie division and I will also see bottle fed babies.
In addition to private appointments Sarah also provides a twice monthly Mindfulness Breastfeeding Group and Breastfeeding Antenatal Workshops which are open to all expectant parents but may be particularly suitable for parents who have had difficulties breastfeeding previously or who have specific needs which may make breastfeeding more challenging.
Appointments are also available for support with infant and toddler sleep difficulties using gentle approaches which take into account the child’s emotional and developmental needs (no ‘cry it out’ techniques).
Sarah also runs Holistic Sleep Coaching workshops at The Self Centre for parents of 0-6 months old which look at normal sleep biology and strategies to support sleep in this young age group.
As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) I have extensive experience and in depth knowledge in supporting breastfeeding mothers.
I can help with a wide range of issues including latching difficulties, sore nipples, mastitis, thrush, concerns about milk supply and weight gain in addition to premature babies and babies with special needs, twins and other multiples. I also offer help with induced lactation and relactation and can provide information in relation to medication and breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding support is offered as a private consultation (cost £90 for one hour) or in my In the Moment Breastfeeding Group (cost £10 per group session).
I offer tongue-tie division privately to parents of babies with tongue-tie whether they are breast or bottle fed for babies up to 6-9 months.
I do not need a referral.
I charge £150 for division and this includes a full assessment of feeding, medical history, birth history, tongue function, feeding support and follow up support by phone/email.
