We are the only private provider locally catering to children with ear wax problems and have lots of experience with children as NHS practitioners. We are all fully DBS checked and have up-to-date safeguarding training.

With years of experience, our team will assess your ears and create an ear treatment plan. We use a microscope and suction as in our experience it is the best and safest way to visualise and clean your ears. Standard aural assessment and wax microsuction of either one or two ears costs £80 for a 30 min appointment.

We are located at The Self Centre on the ground floor and have disabled accessibility.

How it works

Microsuction is an ear wax removal technique which is safe, comfortable, and pain-free. It involves the use of a binocular microscope which provides a clear and magnified view of the ear canal. With such a clear view, a fine low-pressure suction device can be used to remove any ear wax obstructions safely.

What happens in a session

The appointment

We will ask some simple questions about your health and check the paperwork. The staff will have sanitised the area prior to your arrival and will be wearing PPE. We will make you comfortable on the examination couch and begin the examination and wax removal.

Who will see you

All our staff are highly trained professionals in healthcare across medicine, nursing, and audiology. You will be informed at the time of your treatment as to the specialist performing your procedure.

What you may feel

The light of the microscope can feel warm on the ear. You may feel a pressure in the ear canal as we introduce the instruments, and we may gently pull on the outer ear to improve the view.

You may hear quite a lot of noise and feel a tickling in your ear. Please let us know if you experience any discomfort. Rarely the cooling of the ear canal by suction of the air can make you feel dizzy (caused by a process called the caloric effect).
Ear examination/microsuction may also cause you to cough as a small nerve in the ear is stimulated by the process. This small nerve is connected to a major nerve to your cough mechanism – one of the many reasons we ask you to continue to wear masks.
