Name of Therapist Yvonne Green

Description of Therapy/ Profile

You may be struggling to cope with issues that are preventing you from living a full and contented life and need some support. You may be feeling strong emotions such as anger, doubt, frustration, sadness, fear or guilt.

I provide a space to talk and a listening ear in a confidential and safe setting.

I am a warm and empathic counsellor and am trained to provide either short or long term Counselling. I have always been a good listener and realise these skills are vital to be a good counsellor.

I like to build a trusting relationship and learn how other people see the world in order to more fully understand their issues. I am able to be congruent in a warm and calm way and this has helped clients to put their trust in me.

Helping to clarify and reflect on issues in a non-judgemental way enables clients to overcome blockages and express themselves in a beneficial manner..
Finding words for feelings, some of which may have been stored up for many years, and saying them out loud in a safe and confidential setting can be a powerful and relieving experience.

Eating and Obesity Therapy

Do you feel you have issues with food?

Do you have disordered eating? Do you binge when you are depressed or upset?

Do you constantly diet only to put the weight back on ?

We can use food to emotionally comfort us. We may have certain beliefs and behaviour around food and this may be detrimental to our health, lifestyle, relationships and happiness.

You may have issues from the past that are affecting you and exploring them in a non judgemental way can help to explain why you may eat in a certain way.

There are no diets, calorie counting, weighing or target weights, just manageable and realistic goals.

I use practical techniques to restore blood sugar levels and overcome cravings, give information about metabolism, dieting and nutrition.

We explore new ways of thinking about food and improve self esteem and assertiveness.

We will look at ways to gently move forward and make small changes to restore a balanced and more contented way of eating.

Professional Qualifications : Diploma in Person-Centred and Psychodynamic Counselling

Diploma/ Master Practitioner Eating Disorders, Obesity and Nutrition

Member of the BACP

I am a school counsellor, do bereavement and trauma couselling

Benefits of therapy

The therapies I use are finely tuned to suit each client. You may want short -term counselling to explore issues, establish patterns and look for a way to move forward in a positive and life changing way. Certain practical techniques may be suitable and simple exercises can be thought provoking.
You may wish to explore deeper issues from the past and look at behaviour and how it affects us now. Longer term counselling may be appropriate for this.

Learning new things about ourselves can be a powerful tool for change.

A Client says........

Yvonne's warm and caring approach made me look forward to each session as though I was going to visit a very special friend who I could trust completely and know was helping me.  Yvonne's work was so good, that I was able to complete my course of six sessions, with a new outlook on my problem, and I take away with me a much more confident and positive person.  I would not hesitate to go to Yvonne with any other life problems that may cause me distress because I know she is completely trustworthy. I wholeheartedly recommend Yvonne to anyone who is trying to take the brave step to confront their issues.  Thank you Yvonne.

and....

Yvonne's caring nature, confidence and belief in me made me trust her.Despite some resistance from me during the therapy, she gave me the strength to carry on. I have experienced 35 years of complications and various interventions have not produced the same help and support as that which I have received from Yvonne over a few months. She is friendly, caring, positive and supportive and has in turn helped me to become positive and confident and i feel in control of my own life.

I can highly recommend Yvonne to you.

Conditions treated

How it works

A free 30 minute assessment session to start. We can find out what you would like to achieve from counselling, where you would like to be and how you would like to feel in the future.

We can start with 6 sessions and extend the sessions if it is felt appropriate. Longer term counselling may be useful for some people.

What happens in a session?

The sessions are completely confidential and one to one in a safe and comfortable setting.

The therapies I use allow the client to lead the session and explore the issues. I will reflect back in a non- judgemental way and begin to explore the beliefs and values that may be causing issues to become imbedded. Reframing and looking at new ways to view life and its challenges can bring freedom and a new positive way of living.

Therapies I use are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Human Givens and Solution Focused.

Length of session 50 minutes

Days/Times available Various times day and evening available

Prices per session £45 per session. Payable per session

24 hr notice of cancellation required or a fee will be charged.
